Full Name: Melanie Stryder
Age: 23
Personality:
Melanie Stryder, or Mel, as most people call her, is a very experienced protector. She had to learn early in her life how to handle threatening situations. When she learned of how Souls were taking over humans, she and her brother, Jamie, had to run. They did very well for a while, meeting Jared along the way. Mel learned to be quick-thinking and sure of herself. She was already witty, but having to cope with Souls scoping out to see if any humans are left was a challenge for Mel.
Appearance:
Melanie has rather dark brown hair, as it is almost black. It is fairly long, hanging on her shoulders and most of the time clinging to her forehead because of beads of sweat, due to the heat in the Caves. Mel has brownish--hazel eyes. She has a strong build with sun-tanned skin, and a very athletic build.
What you like about the canon character:
I like how Mel absolutely refuses to fade away. She's different and incredibly head-strong, and stubborn which sets her apart from everyone else.
History: [optional]
Melanie Stryder refuses to fade away.
Our world has been invaded by an unseen enemy. Humans become hosts for these invaders, their minds taken over while their bodies remain intact and continue their lives apparently unchanged. Most of humanity has succumbed.
When Melanie, one of the few remaining "wild" humans is captured, she is certain it is her end. Wanderer, the invading "soul" who has been given Melanie's body, was warned about the challenges of living inside a human: the overwhelming emotions, the glut of senses, the too vivid memories. But there was one difficulty Wanderer didn't expect: the former tenant of her body refusing to relinquish possession of her mind.
Wanderer probes Melanie's thoughts, hoping to discover the whereabouts of the remaining human resistance. Instead, Melanie fills Wanderer's mind with visions of the man Melanie loves—Jared, a human who still lives in hiding. Unable to separate herself from her body's desires, Wanderer begins to yearn for a man she has been tasked with exposing. When outside forces make Wanderer and Melanie unwilling allies, they set off on a dangerous and uncertain search for the man they both love.
RP example:
[from Epoch Twilight]
Jemma pushed her feet quickly through the sifty sand on First Beach, contemplating how she'd ended up here. How could she let herself wonder over to La Push? She'd broken the treaty!
The wind was flying behind her as she whisked across the beach, desperate for a hiding spot. She thought back to the night:
Jemma leaves her home, planning on walking to Seattle. She runs through the forest, not concerned about anything in particular. She arrives in Seattle, slowing to a walk on the sidewalks. She looks to her left and looks to her right, seeing things not meant to be there. A war was raging and Jemma knows that. Werewolves begin to repulse her, and everywhere she goes, Jemma finds more evidence of them. Frustrated with wolves' stupidity, Jemma begins to run again, not stopping until finding herself crossing the line. A hate so strong and so fretful engulfs Jemma, and she doubles over with rage. She can feel the blood pulsing through her veins as she screams into the night. Jemma can feel her eyes turn, as she becomes hungry with wrath and hate. She feels drunk with it, and runs idly until finding herself on the beach.
Running, running, running, is all Jemma concentrated on. She tried to let the wind wash away these feelings, her rage and wrath and vindictiveness, but the whiff of dogs is everywhere she turned. Jemma tried to escape.
