"Oh no, I'm late! Please, please, please don't let them leave yet!" Angie thought wildly as she ran full speed down the corridor. "Wait up!" she cried as she saw the small group of people, and unable to stop, crashed dramatically into the stone wall.
"Urgh, that hurts," grumbled Lena. Angie didn't even say anything as she crawled to her knees.
"Hey, sorry I'm late," she said after a moment's panting, "I was held back in the caves." She stared around, and smiled happily, this was her first chance to breathe fresh air in a month or so and she couldn't wait to go on her first raid. She groaned inwardly, however, when she saw Ben on his motorcycle.
"I guess nothing's perfect," Angie thought quietly, and asked, "So, are we all ready?"

Rin hurried. She overslept and it took her forever to gather her things. Around her shoulder was a bag that held charts and books. It wasn't heavy and easy to carry. She looked around wondering if that was everyone. Her breath evened as she waited for instructions. She had her hair tided back and she was wearing black pants and a dark gray shirt.

Jared sighed again, this time not as loud, and waited for the other person her heard running down the tunnel. It bothered him when people were late. It meant that things were behind schedule and need to be rethought.
He walked back into the main tunnel, telling everyone else that they could go on if they wanted to. He might as well wait for the straggler.

Melanie bounced on her feet as a few more people came into view.
"Are we all going to fit?" She wondered out loud. Most would get a seat belt, but she guessed some of them would have to sleep in the back.
She looked around, seeing if there were any more people missing or on their way
"Okay, Jared and I are heading out. If there are any more people who come later, we'll see if they can squeeze in," Mel said, already grabbing Jared's hand and walking forward.

Wanda took a deep breath of fresh air as soon as she stepped out into the slight darkness of the new night. She was excited to get some new clothes for the humans that were still in the caves and couldn't come only because there wasn't enough room. She rolled her eyes when she saw Ben get on his motorcycle. He shouldn't have it so close to the caves. It was a danger to everyone who lived with in the caves. Souls don't usually ride those either because they are such a danger to the host body if you get into a wreck.
Wanda smiled when she saw the other native soul was coming as well. She took Angie's hand and pulled her into a run as she sprinted towards the jeep. "Come on," she urged trying to get her own legs to move faster than they wanted too.

"AAhh!" Angie cried softly as she was tugged along by Wanderer. She grinned and sped up. "Race you to the jeep!" she shouted behind her. She loved the blistering heat, the landscape of the desert around her. It reminded Lena of the huge Namib Desert, but of course, Namibia was way more beautiful. She stopped to wait for Wanda when she reached the jeep.
"So, Wanda, what's new?" she asked, attempting to chat. Angie often found that talking got her mind off her nerves. Would she mess up? Would she die? Those were the questions she asked herself, to which she had no answer.

Melanie giggled as Angie bounced around Wanda and raced everyone towards the jeep. The sun blistered down on all of their heads, but it was nice to be in the real sunlight, like finally getting their much needed vitamin D.
"Isn't this nice? Are you guys psyched or what?" Mel bounced on the tip of her toes, grinning up at Jared. She was so glad they were together.
But something always sat in the back of her mind. What happened to the other group? Were there more people out there? Could they all get together and form one union, and finally beat the Souls once and for all?
She shook her head away of these thoughts and opened the heavy jeep door.
"I call shotgun!!"

Wanda pouted slightly when Angie ran ahead of her. She tried to push herself to go faster than Angie though not succeeding with it, her body was still fragile and very petite. "Awe no fair," she called up to her then turned and smiled at Mel hearing what she said. "Don't forget we can't leave until it gets dark other wise they can see our dust!" She laughed her high bell laugh then skipped toward the jeep until she was next to Angie again.
She smiled and giggled, "your no fair," she said like a child pouting to a parent even though Angie was younger than Wanda was. Their body types were pretty different too. Angie was bigger than she was, an adult body become well of her, while Wanda's body stayed childish. "Angie I would have never thought your host was only 13 years old. I would have figured her for 15 or 16." She smiled at her before turning and jumping into the backseat of the jeep. "Now where is Ben going off too," she said seeing the trail of dust that he left. Thinking that he better turn around soon considering it was still light enough for the Seekers to see them.

Angie twirled Wanda around, "Really?" she asked, "Well, Lena was a tiny bit faster than the rest." She giggled. "She never did play fair either; I guess it rubbed off on me. It probably shouldn't have, though." She pondered, slightly worried, but shrugged it off and joined her in the back. Angie was very hyperactive and bubbly today, so she might get a little annoying in the car. She waited for everyone to pile into the jeep before taking her notepad out of the small bag she carried.
Chewing off the end of her pencil, she started sketching the outline of a dark alley. She might as well draw because they weren't leaving until dark and she desperately needed to calm down. The serious subject of her drawing would help way more than if she decided to sketch something happier, because then she would just be more energetic. Her breathing slowed as she moved the pencil gently along the paper.

Melanie tapped her foot in the shotgun's seat and waited for everyone to climb into the huge Jeep. Was it just her or were they all being extremely slooooow today? Mel sighed, and craned around, looking for Jared.
"Jared? Are you out there?" She called, looking around for him.
If everyone didn't hurry up she was going to start the Jeep herself. She looked behind her, seeing Angie. She'd never really talked with Angie much, so she struck up a conversation.
"Whatcha drawing?"

Angie didn't answer for a while, trying to get herself out of the world she was drawing. She spoke quietly as she drew the outline of a hooded boy in the background, "A scene I think most of you are very familiar with." Shading in some parts of the picture she thought carefully about what she was going to say next. Melanie and she didn't talk that much after all. Finally she lifted her head and looked at Melanie. "You know," she said, trying to keep it light, "most of my creations have a story behind them... Do you wanna hear this one?" She tipped her head, and brushed a lock of hair out of the way.

Ben had ridden off on his bike while before the others had even set off, he had arrived at the group meeting point at least 30 minutes before they did. Deciding he had some time to kill Ben rested his back on a big tree and closed his eye. While he waited Ben got the rifle of his back and fired at a few birds, hoping the noise didn't attract Souls Ben reloaded the rifle.

Melanie nodded her head quickly up and down, looking a bit passed Angie's own eyes. They hadn't really been acquainted, so Mel didn't want to be too aggressive like her usual self. Every knew her, though most people didn't really know her.
"Yeah! Tell it," she said in a girlish voice.
Something in everyone in the Caves was a strong and encouraging flame, driving all of them to survive in the blisteringly hot desert of Arizona. Mel wished it was still a normal earth, with no Souls and no invasions.

"I may be a little rusty, I haven't told a decent story in years." The last time she had told a good story was in her first life, as a Seeweed. It was centuries ago since she had been one of the so-called Storytellers, the ones who took the truth and turned upside down, gasping for air. It was the closest most souls got to lying.
Angie pointed at the hooded figure and kept her eye on the picture as she spoke. "This boy lived when the first souls came to earth. When the invasion first began, and the Spiders prepared the humans to be taken over. He lived alone with his father, as his mother had died when he was born. His father had always blamed the boy for her death, but some of the neighbours held that his father murdered her in a fit of rage. Like many of these sort of deaths, the cause was never known, and in any case the family was too poor for anyone to care.
"As the boy grew, he grew in a shadow of perpetual fear. His father became an alcoholic, and at the sight of the slightest thing gone wrong, he'd... he would... beat his son. It was horrifying, the way the boy was abused. But he took it, day after day, until he met them.
"They were a gang that roamed the streets of the ghetto, another group he had always been afraid of, but none as much as his own father. Enticing him with the promise of safety, family, money, respect and the sweet deadly drug of freedom, they would take in the boy. All he had to do, was... k-kill his father. He thought it would be easy, after all, hate would do the job.
"Once the wicked entering deed was done, he ran to the alley which was the rendezvous point for him and the gang leader. He waited for hours, scared and frightened, trying to rinse of the indelible blood of his father on his young hands. The gang leader had supplied him with drugs, drugs that made him believe that he was invincible, to do the job, but they had quickly worn off, leaving him hungry for their powers.
"He stayed still as he heard the footsteps. They seemed too light, more like a child's than a man's. But no-one dared come here, so it was probably one of the young children they used as drug-mules. The boy had always thought the practice wrong, but he had to admit, it did work. Who wouldn't trust a little girl or boy?
"The child reached out her hand, and the boy started to ask her something. Her eyes shone in the half-light as she raised her hand, and he smelt his last smell, a scent of raspberry. He fell to the ground and took his last breath as a human, for when he woke up, his body was no longer his own."
Angie gained confidence as she spoke, only to have it stolen away as she finished. She looked up briefly, to see the reaction her story gave. Angie hoped it was good.

Pounding footsteps stole the night as Jared walked. He let the group go ahead. He wanted to gather his thoughts and figure out a plan that safe and sufficient. He was finally able to get everyone that was going to the jeep. It was quite a few people for such a small jeep. He hoped that everyone would fit because he didn't feel like sending people home.
As Jared walked closer, he heard a gun go off. He felt a sudden fear, but like always, his face was composed. He thought that something might be wrong near the jeep. Maybe a seeker? But when he walked closer, he also heard the chatting sound casual. It must have been Ben then. Ben, in Jared's opinion was extremely annoying and immature. He shouldn't be doing this when souls are sleeping. This is the only cover they can have, except for having Wanda go out in the day, which displeased him to have to go out in the day because Wanda was not going to go out by herself!
Jared finally reached the jeep. He saw Melanie, looking a se xy as ever, talking with Lena. Lena seemed to be telling a story and a quite good one at that, so he didn't interrupt. "Thats quite good Lena. Did you make that up?" He walked casually into the drivers side and started the car. It made a low rumble and he waited for everyone to get in. "Come on, people! We don't have much time," Jared said. He gave a stern eye to Ben before he looked fore ward, ready to drive off.
