It felt strange to enter the caves again.
Vivian had finally felt an inkling of homesickness for the place and the people. So, she'd come back. People were crowding around to see who had come back. Some were angry, some were happy. Most weren't exactly looking at her. They were looking at Caleb and Carver. Not that she was surprised. She brought back a guy after leaving for two months, give or take, that was a soul and they wondered how much he knew.
Vivi trusted him though. On the road, there would have been several chances to take her to a Seeker, and he never did. She might trust Caleb more than Carver, but she didn't really know a lot about him either.
When Jeb finally showed up, he looked at the both of them. "Vivian. Nice to see you. How was your trip? I see you brought home a new friend. I'm Jeb, and this is my house."
"Hey, Jeb. It was a nice break. We brought back a whole bunch of supplies. I dropped the first load off at the storage room."
"Good, good. Well, my vegetables need to be harvested so I'm gonna go back to 'em. Glad to see you back, Vivi."
[If anyone objects to me speaking for Jeb, speak now or forever hold your peace.]

[ahah I most definitely do not object, and I'm not really sure if our characters have ever met but let's pretend they have =)]
Melanie, sweat on her forehead, palms, and just about everywhere else, tried to use her free hand to wipe her head. It was positively blazing hot today, the sun poured down on the workers.
With a couple of boxes in her hands, Mel squinted up at the bright lights of the Entrance Hall Cave. She could see a bunch of people crowding around something, what it was she couldn't tell. Off to the side, she saw Vivian talking to Jeb.
Wait... Vivi!
Mel set her boxes down splat and ran over to Vivian. Almost tackling her, Mel grabbed Vivi around the shoulders into a huge bear hug.
"How have you been! Gawd, I've missed you!" she shouted loudly, not paying attention the others.

Caleb felt strange. Excited, eager- terrified. He hadn't been in a room with so many people for years. The cave seemed ready to swallow him up, leaving no trace of the desperate struggle for survival that had come to define him.
"Hello, Jeb," he said, and though he kept his voice even he had the feeling this man could smell fear. "I'm Caleb. And, er, there's a guy named Carver in here, too."
Suddenly someone was shouting near him, and he couldn't help it, he jumped a little. I need to get used to that again.

Mel was momentarily distracted by looking around and she saw a big group of people crowded around someone. It was kind of funny in Mel's opinion, like they were about to poke and prod at him with a five feet stick.
"Who's the newcomer?" she asked Vivi.
He looked positively weirded out of his wits, maybe a little terrified and excited too. Melanie could put herself in his place. It was scary the very first time you came here. she felt with a pang the hard memory of seeing Jared and Jamie for the very first times again.
Cringing, Mel quickly brought her mind back to the present and looked at Vivian again.

Lena! Don't scare me like that EVER again! Angie was busy berating Lena for being absent for a day. Had she no idea how much that scared her?
Still arguing, she stomped into the main hall. She didn't bother hiding the look of fury on her face, which is why many of the humans stared at her. It was rare Angie was this mad. Normally she wasn't, but when she can't feel Lena in her mind for days and then she suddenly decides to appear while she's cooking and makes her practically burn her hand off, that will make even a soul ticked off. Just by the way. Angie hissed angrily under her breath.
So you do care. muttered Lena.
Whatever!
She was so absorbed in her argument, she hit someone pretty hard. Shocked out of her head, she apologized and finally looked up at whoever it was. Curse Lena's thirteen year old body! She had to look up at nearly everyone. The person, however, she didn't not recognise. "Hi, have you been in the caves long?" she asked, trying to keep the irritancy out of her voice. He certainly looked like a newcomer, definitely nervous enough. Angie and Lena remembered their first day in the caves, and shuddered.
Angie looked around. "Hey Viv!" she called as she spotted the red-head. "You're back!" She kept her distance though, Vivian looked as though she had more than enough welcomers, the most exuberant being Melanie.

[AH! Sorry about not replying for so long...]
Vivian saw Mel racing towards her and braced herself for the coming tackle hug. "Mel! It's good to see you! I missed you too!" she said as she hugged Mel back. "I've been fine. What about you? What's happened while I've been gone? Tell me everything."
Vivian looked at Caleb to see how he was taking all this. He looked a little jumpy. She sent him what she hoped was a reassuring smile. "And, Mel, keep your voice down. I think you're scaring my friend here." She dragged Mel over, and introduced them. "Caleb, Carver, this is my friend Melanie. Melanie this is the guy who's been keeping me company, Caleb and Carver." She looked at them both, hoping that Mel would like him and that Caleb and Carver would get freaked out or anything.
Everywhere she looked there were people she knew. Lena and Angie had popped up, though it was odd for her to look mad, unless she'd changed in time she was gone. "Hey Lena!" She waved and gave a smile. "Of course I'm back! Just needed some fresh air!"

Melanie observed Caleb. She felt a little unintended pang of sympathy for him. Since Vivi had introduced him as both his Host and his Soul, Mel guessed he was having a particular bad battle with his insides. She knew exactly how Caleb felt. Being trapped inside the back of her own mind... like sitting right before death, waiting for it to take you.
Mel shuddered only a little bit, and tried to forget about it.
With another bright smile, she embraced Lena quickly and then turned back to face Caleb again. She didn't want him to feel left out! So, she quickly brought up a conversation with him, wanting it to be all good.
"Hey! I'm Mel, like Vivi just said! Sorry I'm being loud, can't really help it right now, I'm so happy about us getting more happy people!!"
Gah, she probably sounded like an idiot. She did sound like an idiot. Hah!

Caleb looked around. He hadn't been around this many humans in years. Carver had simply never been around this many humans. Vivian introduced him to one of the people.
"Hello, Mela-" he started. He was interrupted as one of the people ran up and practically bowled him over.
"No, just arrived," he said, noting the girl's silver eyes with surprise. He turned back to Melanie.
"No problem," he said with a smile. "We're just not used to so many people. If Carver had any control we'd be jumping out of our skin."

"That was an awfully long breath of air," muttered Angie as she hugged Mel back.
"I'm Angelic Tale, but most people call me Angie here." Angie introduced herself, and trying unsuccessfully to ignore Lena, decided to introduce her as well, "And since Lena won't shut up, I better introduce her as well. Selena Burns." The rest of the people in the caves might now understand her fury, after all, she was super nervous when Lena didn't even say something. They all noticed.
As Angie listened to the conversation, she became more and more confused. It sounded as if the human, Caleb, was in control. Not the soul. Too shy to ask, she waited to see what would be revealed. If her suspicions were correct, well, that was impossible. Something like this couldn't happen. She pushed the thought out of her head. But still... strange things happen.

Angelic... ...Tale? Carver mused. The name sounds vaguely familiar, but I can't really place it.
Caleb was thinking over other things. So in her, or rather their body, the soul had power over the host. That had been how it was with he and Carver, in the beginning, but Caleb had regained control of his body by sheer force.
"I certainly know what it's like when someone won't shut up," he said, "But before I met Vivian, Carver was sometimes the only person I talked to for weeks on end."

{is it ok if i pretend that Angie and Carver have met and are friends? If not, say so and I'll modify the post}
Angie smiled politely. Thinking hard, she mused aloud, "When I was on the Bears, I knew a Carver once. I was known Starstruck Tale at first there, but my name soon changed to Sculptor of Angelic Marvels. I think his full name was something along the lines of Carver of Luminous Wonders."
Angie glanced at Caleb, trying to gauge his reaction. It wouldn't be the first time two souls were reunited, but it was rare. Very rare. It was probably another Carver. But still, it was probably too much of a coincidence. Even though Souls liked unique names.

[[that's fine. Sorry for not having posted, comp problems and low muse]]
That's it! Carver said. His voice was louder than it had been since... ...well, since Caleb overpowered him. Caleb smiled.
"That's him. He remembers you," Caleb said, then with slight awe, "You were one of Glitterweaver's students?"
Carver had spent endless hours remembering his other planets. He missed them all to a degree, but it was the Bears and their sculptures he missed the most. Caleb could only get the barest idea of what these had been like, but he knew that they were beautiful.

Melanie noticed Angie and Caleb mingling together, so all she did was keep chatting with Viv and looking around. The sun was pouring in, and it was very, very hot; she had sweat running down her face. When would it be evening? Soon, hopefully... Melanie was thinking to herself.
And then she thought about even more of the things that were on her list, it seemed never ending. This made her want Jared, because he always made her feel better and she missed him. Although she was happy the Angie was talking to Caleb, they seemed to like each other fairly well.
tT least they don't hate each other...

Angie's hand met her Of course! She saw Melanie and Vivian talking out of the corner of her eye. "Yes, I was. I still don't know what he saw in me." She giggled softly.
"Will you tell me what happened? On Earth, I mean. I want to know your story." Being a Seeweed, Angie had always loved stories. They were a way to keep boredom in the distance, a chance for everybody to express him or herself. It had been decades, maybe even more, since Carver and Angie had last talk.
A lot can happen in a few decades...

Carver's thought were incoherent, but joyful. Caleb smiled.
"I was part of a small camp of wild humans in Georgia, but we were found out. I got captured, and Carver was chosen as my soul. I fought him for control, and won, but he was strong enough to still be there," Caleb was careful with his wording there- he was not proud that he had tried to kill Carver, no matter how justified it might have been. "I didn't have any ties to Georgia left, so I got an RV and my dogs and started traveling the country. That was basically it until I met Vivian on the road."
